Pitti W_Woman Precollection : 2nd Edition

THE SPOTLIGHTS ARE FOCUSED ON JUNE AND THE NEW PITTI W_ WOMAN PRECOLLECTION

From 18-21 June, concomitantly with Pitti Immagine Uomo 74, Florence will host the second edition of Pitti W_Woman Precollection, the Pitti Immagine project devoted to women's fashion precollections.
After the success of the January edition, in the Dogana on Via Valfonda, the perfect location adjacent to the Fortezza da Basso, a special group of international brands will present at least 60 exclusive precollections for the 2009 spring-summer season.

"Pitti W_Woman Precollection", – says Agostino Poletto, deputy general manager of Pitti Immagine – "is developing in harmony with its concept and image. If the first edition brought us enormous satisfaction with over 6,500 visitors and representatives from the world's finest department stores and boutiques, in June we hope to do even better by putting the accent on scouting and selection. These are the elements that create a unique opportunity for launching labels with great potential and innovative concepts for women.
The names at Pitti W are an exclusive selection of women's precollections by established firms and young names that can already be found in the most fashion savvy and avant-garde boutiques: from the total look to knitwear, from coats and jackets to glamour accessories.
This is an event for top buyers and the trend press, and again it will be held in a striking setting designed by Oliviero Baldini".

The names at this edition will include: Carlo Contrada, whose prêt-à-porter is a combination of couture and a blend of contemporary suggestions and Archivio Privato Donna, where Alberto Zambelli is continuing his research between sartorial rigor and unusual shapes. Henry Beguelin will bring at Pitti W his total look with the excellence of handmade and natural leathers; while Stella Forest will provide the romantic "French touch", the Nigerian designer, Lola Faturoti, who now hails from New York, will show her elegant prints.

Romeo Gigli puts his signature to the sophisticated Rebecca Brown collection; the leather and suede items by Thes & Thes, are so light that they seem like fabric; John De Risi will be showcasing ergonomically styled clothes with leather appliqués, while Nathu, protagonists, of the first Italian Biocouture project, will feature totally biologic clothing.
Focus on accessories: from the presentation of the new "Archivio" line by Gherardini, dedicated to the most exclusive fashion stores, to the bags with the clean lines by Pierre Louis Mascia; from the classic chic of footwear by Un Dimanche à Venise par Kallisté to the cosmopolitan glamour of shoes by Sebastian to the celebrities' favorite – the colorful jewels by Tarina Tarantino.

This edition of Pitti W_Woman Precollection will also showcase special projects such as the one by Carmina Campus, a new line of handbags by Ilaria Venturini Fendi that combines leather, recycled materials (from bits of PVC to truck canvases, from ship ropes to industrial rejects, to vintage lining fabrics) and handcrafted finishes.
Each item is different form the next, is numbered and requires several days to make…all within the framework of a creative recycling product aimed at supporting social campaigns in favour of the environment and of human rights for women in the Third World.

DvF IS THE LABEL ON THE PITTI W SPECIAL EVENT
Diane von Furstenberg will be the special guest at this edition and she will be celebrated during an elegant, glamorous, en plein air event in the Giardino Torrigiani on Wednesday evening, 19 June that will feature the absolute première showing of the new Cruise/Pre-Spring Collection 2008-09.
