The decadence of the Baroque period and the romantic nostalgia that is evoked from Hiroshi Nagai's art work is what inspired Manish Arora this season in bringing this Spring Summer 2011 Collection.

The Baroque period with its dynamic movement and intricate detailing comes alive in this season's collection through the detailed embroidery and prints that conjure up the delicious hedonism of the past. In true Manish Arora style, though, the flowing curvaceous line of the Baroque style is juxtaposed with strict, severe futuristic lines creating an interesting illusion of the Futuristic Baroque.

Gold, so beloved by the Baroque period is combined with blues and reds echoing Manish Arora's Indian heritage. As one closely examines the prints, the India that Manish famously hints at in every collection comes alive in the form of the Dancing Natraj.

Helping capture the romantic nostalgia are Hiroshi Nagai's graphic designs, from his collection "Time goes by..." As the collection name suggests Nagai's striking pieces invoke memories of a magical summer with fulfilled promises.

The marriage between the vibrant Baroque and wistful Nagai designs gives way to a collection filled with nostalgia, decadence and a promise of a glimpse into the future as Manish sees it.

The color palette includes shades of Blue, purple, mint green, sea blue, cream, red, black and gold. Surface textures feature applique, intricate threadwork and sequin hand embroidery.

This season Manish uses fabrics like chiffon, Spanish crepe, net, silk, cotton silk and Cotton Knit.

Manish collaborates with Swarovski Elements now in its sixth year of an ongoing creative partnership to create special garments and unique accessories.

Manish collaborates with M.A.C for makeup, Christophe Coppens for hats and Nicholas Kirkwood for shoes. Christophe Coppens will be the "Guest of Honour" of "The Box", 04.-07.March 2011, Paris, Pavilion Cambon.
