Igor Chapurin Collection S/S 2011

Idea. Beginning of the 20th Century. An outstanding period in Russian modern art. The time of the search of fresh forms and means of expression, flowering epoch of new art schools. Vasiliy Kandinsky's abstractionism, Kazimir Malevich's suprematism, Vladimir Tatlin's constructivism are the art trends that gave the world many masterpieces and Igor Chapurin his Inspiration for the present collection. Its leitmotif is sculpture-like shape design and contrast color solutions.

Silhouette. 'Points and lines' is the first half of the 20th Century avant-garde art's traditional method. The designer transforms it into the principle of ideal balance of shape and color. A silhouette's pureness is combined with softness of lines and mixture of textures. Minimalist dresses are paired with draped jackets; flowing skirts go along with jumpsuits. A complex cut helps Igor Chapurin obtain laconic but multi-layered Images.

Fabrics. Different silks like Moroccan crepe, georgette, duchesse and taffeta. For this collection the designer chooses mat and textured fabrics ornamented with vintage sequins.

Color. Igor Chapurin offers emotional color combinations. Shades of yellow, gold, a range of bold reds and pinks are mixed together with a strong Statement of whites.
