For her Couture Collection "Blooming Rimpa", Yumi Katsura continues to explore the ancient art of Japanese Arts and its arts and crafts. The collection is a tribute to the Rimpa School. One of the major historical schools of more than four centuries of Japanese decorative painting. Founded in the 16th century, bringing together the most important artists and supported by rich aristocratic families of Kyoto, Rimpa school is famous for its painters of nature, birds, flowers and trees often performed on background of gold leaf.
Over the centuries, other areas such as calligraphy, ceramics and lacquer work developed, like bowls for tea ceremony beautifully decorated.
During the 19th early 20th century, the Rimpa School reborn by applying his techniques to other decorative formats, such as screens (famous "Gods of Wind and Thunder"), fans, kimono fabrics, using gold and silver and the pearl and lacquer in striking color schemes. "BLOOMING RIMPA" gave to YUMI KATSURA opportunity to invited Rimpa artists and craftsmen chosen for their unique technique and original style.

The themes of the collection:
- The Blue Iris painted on black silk embroidered brocade or gold mini dress and short coats, cocktail dress and evening embroidered
- The Flying Dragon painted on black silk: long evening dress asymmetrical
- The bright gold leaf Sun surrounded by flying fish and crabs hand painted on black silk: Long Dress volante
- Houshou, direct transfer of paint on bronze and pink silk: short dress pleated belted a long obi
- Waves applied in gold leaf on black silk cadi: evening dress and coat
- Tattoo "Apollo" Mount Fuji, hand-painted on black organza mini dress "pipistrella"
- Embroidered Golden Iris on black silk: cocktail dress,
- The Fans Multicolored "Yuzen" on white silk mini summer dresses
In the collection are added: Shibori tie and dye scarves, the Mizuhiki bamboo covered with Washi paper, lacquers and Ikebana flower arrangements.

"BLOOMING RIMPA" by Yumi Katsura pays tribute to the rich craft techniques of the ancient Japanese Art.
She repeatedly reinterpreted in its collections. A historical and contemporary marriage.
